Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr has said sorry to the fanbase for his reaction when replaced in the recent intense Clasico clash victory.

He was taken off in the second half and showed his disappointment by going straight off the pitch.

He subsequently came back to the sidelines and, following his team's 2-1 win, tried to confront the opposition's Lamine Yamal during unsavoury post-match incidents.

"Today I want to say sorry to all the Madridistas for my response when I was replaced in the Clasico," the player shared on social media.

"Just as I have previously expressed during this morning's session, I wish to express regret anew to my colleagues, the organization, and the club president.

"Sometimes passion overcomes me because I constantly desire to succeed and support my team. My winning mentality stems from the affection I have for this team and all it represents."

He signed for Madrid from his former club in 2018 for a significant fee and has notched 111 goals in more than 300 games.

But his future in the Spanish capital is far from certain with reports in lately stating that the club would contemplate letting the 25-year-old leave if they obtained a appropriate bid.
